November 2013

Amy and Romuald Giacometti came to the U.S. with Bernard Giacometti (Founder, La Bazenne) in November 2012 to scope out potential venues for the future site of the first La Bazenne restaurant on U.S. shores.

The first destination: The nation’s capitol.  Washington, DC is increasingly becoming known as a foodie town with a diverse mix of restaurants to fit any palette and price range.  Yet, modern French, local and healthy cuisine remains a niche market yet to be fully tapped.

A first potential site was found on Pennsylvania Avenue, only blocks away from the Nation’s Capitol.

The La Bazenne Team next made their way down to Florida to check out sunnier options with closer ties to Ile de Re’s summer scene.

On Florida’s West Coast, stops were made at Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sarasota, and Naples.

Naples was a favorite destination, but alas, no potential restaurant sites were available at the time.

The La Bazenne Team also visited East Florida to check out sites in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

After our two-week trek, we headed back to France, thinking Washington DC might be our best option…
